Learn how to expertly use maps and become skilled at navigation with our specially designed courses. We keep our groups small so everybody gets personal instruction on a level to suit their abilities. Each course usually lasts a day and takes place in an area to suit you. NNAS AwardsThe 'National Navigation Awards Scheme'. We offer Bronze and Silver levels of instruction and assessment. A certificate and badge are given upon successful completion of the course. Please check our NNAS Course Calendar for available dates. If you would prefer a different location to the ones listed in our Course Calendar, simply let us know and we'll arrange it for you!

Night NavigationAndy's favourite! Fun and challenging, this course teaches the often over-looked skills of navigation in the dark - essential for anybody who's ever likely to find themselves navigating in poor visibility or at night. It concentrates on map to ground navigation and compass techniques, as well as how to plan a safe route and aiming off and attack points. Navigation for BeginnersDesigned for those with little or no skill in map reading and compass use, Andy will take you through all the necessary basics to get you navigating safely and competently. A relaxed and friendly day, you'll have a great time as well as getting to grips with the essentials of navigation. Our personalised service means you'll be instructed at a pace and level to suit you, not just your group! Items covered on this course include compass skills, route planning, map symbols, pacing distances, and map scales.

Improver Navigation - Moors and MountainsA more advanced course teaching further techniques of navigation including contour interpretation, aiming off, attack points and dead reckoning. Ideal for anybody who has taken our Navigation for Beginners course or who simply want to improve the skills they already have.

Using GPSTeaching general principals and useful techniques for those who wish to use GPS as a navigational tool, or who just want to learn how to get to grips with the technology. If you've ever wondered 'how the damn things work' then this course is ideal for you! GPS equipment is provided, or you're free to bring your own.
